II. Diatonic / Heptatonic Scales: (is a 7 note scale consisting 5 whole steps and 2 half steps, in which the half steps are maximally separated)

~Major Scales:
Pattern: (2-2-1)-(2)-(2-2-1)

~Minor Scales:
~Natural Minor Scales:
Pattern: (2)-(1-2-2)-(1-2-2)

~Harmonic Minor Scales:
Pattern: (2)-(1-2-2)-(1-3-1)

~Melodic Minor Scales:
-Ascending: Pattern: (2)-(1-2-2)-(2-2-1)
-Descending: Pattern: (2-2-1)-(2-2-1)-(2) (note that this is the reverse of the natural minor scale)
