D.C. (Da capo), D.S.(Da segno), Coda and Segno in staff notation

D.C.: (Da Capo) directs the performer to repeat playing the music from its beginning. This is followed by “al fine”, closing the DS by limiting the music to repeat to the word fine and stop; or “al coda”, which means repeat to the coda sign and then jump forward beyond the point where you started with the DC. The repetition is to be done only once, unless otherwise directed.

D.S.: (Dal Segno) directs the performer to repeat playing the music starting at the nearest “Segno” sign. This is followed by al fine or al coda as with DC.
